This is it! The Golden Globes is our first official Green Carpet Challenge event in 2013, as we swing into a fourth year of bringing outstanding sustainable style to some of the biggest events in the world. As predicted, last night’s awards were a triumph for women as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did an outstanding job as hosts. But this year we opted to celebrate menswear as the divine Golden Globes nominee Bradley Cooper joined the GCC in a two piece suit by Tom Ford, designed exclusively for the Green Carpet Challenge.
The suit was made from OEKO-TEX® certified, low environmental impact, European spun and woven wool suiting. As GCC fans will know, while we love the glitz and the excitement of the red carpet, we are fascinated by the supply chain and this project gave us the chance to engage with a world-renowned mill and certification process to create a beautiful fibre that stands the test of time.
Indeed one of the names we are proudest of working with is Tom Ford, something of a mentor to us in our quest to merge ethics with aesthetics; he really ‘gets it’. He will never compromise and that’s what we love about him. It’s a sure-fire way of making sustainability raise its game. We’re very proud of the fact that this is Tom’s third event with the GCC – he dressed Julianne Moore last year in a stunning dress made from recycled vintage velvet, and of course he was one of our nine Green Cut designers.
