On Tuesday 24th September, Livia Firth attended the fourth official First Ladies Luncheon hosted by the UN Fashion 4 Development at The Pierre Hotel in New York. The annual event unites diplomacy and fashion for the greater good of women and children worldwide.
Livia was there to introduce Caroline Scheufele Creative Director and Co-President of Chopard, who was presented, by Her Excellency, The First Lady of Columbia, with the Fashion 4 Development Award in recognition of her role in launching, in partnership with Eco-Age, The ‘Journey To Sustainable Luxury’.
The ‘Journey to Sustainable Luxury’ is a multi-year programme created for Chopard by Eco-Age, that started in Colombia where Chopard has invested in an innovative program, with the support of the Alliance for Responsible Mining, to take small scale artisanal mining communities to Fairmined certification.
This is the first time any luxury watch and jewellery company has made such a direct and long term investment in the real people at the bottom of the supply chain.
