Eco-Age is working with Goldlake Group, an Italian mining company which specialises in building economically inclusive and environmentally responsible business models at its iron ore and gold mines. Eco-Age is helping Goldlake Group’s Honduran iron ore mine Five Star Mining, to develop and execute an Environmental Management System aligned with ISO 14001. We have also conceived and created a stakeholder engagement management tool and a methodology for Five Star to assist capacity building within the local communities, and long term planning for post-mine closure.
We are working particularly closely with Goldlake’s Honduran gold mine Eurocantera, which extracts alluvial gold in conjunction with a local cooperative. The Consultancy is assisting with the company’s continuing efforts to maintain and improve its operating practices, which have been recognised through the certification of the Responsible Jewellery Council, a leading industry standards setting and certification organisation. The RJC Code of Practices is an international standard on responsible business practices for gold, diamonds and platinum group metals, which members commit to and are externally audited against. Goldlake has been a member of the RJC since 2009 and was awarded RJC certification in 2013.
Eco-Age has developed and is delivering a made-for-purpose training program to build the capacity of key personnel in the company to self-manage all key sustainability issues and adapt to the rapidly changing and complex business environment in the countries where it it works.
