Eco-Age has been working with Wembley Stadium since 2010. It’s a multi award-winning partnership which has seen this iconic venue grow to the position of a global sustainability leader. Eco-Age has developed and implemented an award-winning environmental strategy at Wembley Stadium which supports the adoption of environmentally sustainable and commercially beneficial business practices.
The Eco-Age team works in-house to oversee the strategic direction of Wembley’s Environmental Management System which is certified to international standard ISO 14001, and to support The FA Group Green Team across all key venue and event activities. Emphasis is placed upon identifying strategic opportunities to implement environmentally sustainable solutions, reducing business risk, increasing resource use efficiency, engaging with Wembley’s staff, partners and visitors and enhancing Wembley’s reputation as a world-class brand.
Since introducing the Environmental Management System, Eco-Age has helped Wembley to reduce electricity consumption by 30%, achieve event-day recycling rates of 86%, become a zero waste to landfill venue, and report on progress in four sustainability reports. Achievements include becoming the first sports organisation to achieve Carbon Trust Standard treble certification (carbon, water and waste) and receiving the highest Industry Green award, Green Apple, Green Tourism and the International Stadium Business Sustainability Award.
