Livia Firth has been appointed as one of the UN’s Leaders of Change 2012
We’ve been keeping this under our hats for a while, so it’s with great excitement that we can finally announce that that our very own Queen of Green Livia Firth has been appointed as a UN Leader of Change. The award is a much-deserved recognition of all of Livia’s hard work in sustainable fashion and in changing the focus of the industry to ethics and supply chains. It tops off an amazing year for Livia, which has seen incredible success for the Green Carpet Challenge, as well as her appointment as an Oxfam ambassador. The award goes to individuals that have displayed an exemplary commitment to the pursuit of sustainability, and we can think of no one more deserving than Livia.
“Receiving this award is a great honour and a wonderful recognition of everything the Green Carpet Challenge has achieved so far” said Livia. “The Foundation for Social Change sits perfectly with GCC values. We believe passionately in putting environmental and social justice on a platform with world class design and production.”
Livia’s appointment as a UN Leader of Change is just the beginning of what is sure to be a fascinating time for the Green Carpet Challenge. To celebrate this wonderful achievement, the GCC will be hosting a sustainable fashion panel, bringing together key players in the industry, including Vogue US and Vogue Italia, L’Oreal, Gucci, Gap, Chopard, Newlife and C.L.A.S.S for a roundtable discussion in New York. It’s the first of many similar events, which will aim to bring the discussion about sustainability in the fashion industry to the forefront. “To get such amazing names from the most influential magazine editors to major brands discussing the real issues ethical fashion represents gives us real momentum” said Livia. Congratulations Livia, our truly deserving Green Queen!
