MATCHESFASHION.COM is pleased to announce that it has embarked on a partnership with Eco-Age, the brand consultancy specialising in bespoke sustainability solutions.

Today’s luxury consumers have higher expectations of fashion brands than ever before, and with a growing consumer demand for more sustainably produced items, 2017 is the tipping point for retailers. Over 65% of emerging market consumers now actively seek sustainable fashion leading to retailers taking a closer look at how they can deliver products with reduced environmental impact.

MATCHESFASHION.COM is committed to creating a better way of working, building on the passion of employees who are eager to drive positive social and environmental impact within the business and across our relationships. The business has partnered with Eco-Age to develop a comprehensive sustainability programme with the aim of placing sustainable and ethical practices at the heart of what it does.

Ruth Chapman, co-founder and executive co-chairman, MATCHESFASHION.COM said “In our thirtieth year of business, we wanted to be sure the business was looking to the future of the industry, the second largest polluter in the planet. With our reputation for pioneering and nurturing fashion talent we are proud to continue to innovate by focusing our energies on addressing some of these issues within our own business and our broader supply chain.  We hope to bring awareness to our brands, employees and customers and therefore spearhead change, however incremental, over the coming years.  Eco-Age are without doubt the best partners for us to learn from as we begin this project.”

In recent months MATCHESFASHION.COM has been working with Eco-Age, looking at the entire organization to help understand and manage its environmental and social risks. With specialised brand and consumer insights, supply chain, sustainability and fashion expertise, Eco-Age is ideally placed to support this process. Future projects will offer ongoing support to brand partners and suppliers with the objective of improving sustainability performance together.

Livia Firth, founder and creative director, Eco-Age said: “I have so much admiration for Ruth and Tom Chapman as they demonstrated leadership through MATCHESFASHION.COM all along. The sustainability journey they have now embarked upon is not an easy task for a multi-brand retailer but the direct engagement both internally and externally of the MATCHESFASHION.COM ethos is fundamental to the success of it. This is such a unique opportunity to make a real change.”
