Sergio Rossi shoes will never feel the same again

Iconic Italian shoe company Sergio Rossi has launched a butterfly inspired collection of stunning evening shoes and irresistible matching pochette, which will be the first shoe collection to follow the rigorous Green Carpet Challenge Brandmark criteria for sustainable excellence.

The collection is crafted with organic silk lovingly spun, dyed and woven in family run factories in Italy and is also the first silk to be awarded the Green Carpet Challenge (GCC) Brandmark – a guarantor of sustainable excellence.

Angelo Ruggeri, creative director of the house said, “I am so proud of this collection as it truly represents the essence of Sergio Rossi. The opportunity to work with Eco-Age and develop an organic silk yarn was so exciting. I’ve used the butterfly as a symbol of delicacy and to add a little touch of poetry and femininity to this project.”

In every detail, these stunning shoes – and the matching pochette – are redolent with sustainable elements. The organic silk yarn is spun, dyed and woven in Italy by Attilio Imperiali, Artefil and Ongetta, in factories visited and GCC validated by Eco-Age. The beautiful Swarovski crystals that adorn the collection are lead-free. The leather is all sourced in Europe and is guaranteed to be chrome-free. The wooden frame of the pochette is FSC certified; the galvanised hardware elements are nickel-free, and the brass accessories are lead-free.

In a totally unique commitment for a shoe and accessories collection the Kering Group has offset all carbon emissions created by the project.

Livia Firth Creative Director of Eco-Age said, “This has been such a wonderful collaboration which truly preserves and celebrates real artisanal skills and hand-craftsmanship. It is extremely rewarding also for me on a personal level – not only to be working in Italy – but to now have completed with this collection the world’s first Green Carpet Challenge look- from top to toe . We have had many beautiful gowns and stunning Chopard GCC jewellery and now we have the glorious shoes and pochette. The sky now really is the limit…”

The Green Carpet Collection will be on sale exclusively at www.sergiorossi.com from September 3rd and in a selection of Sergio Rossi boutiques from September 4th.
