We’re incredibly honoured to announce our new partnership with the world’s premier online retailer, NET-A-PORTER. Together we have created an exclusive Green Carpet Challenge capsule collection, featuring ten gowns from five top British designers. Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane, Roland Mouret, Christopher Bailey and Erdem have all embraced sustainable style and created two pieces each, in accordance with GCC® ethical criteria and produced to the highest sustainable standards.
The capsule collection will be sold from September 17th on NET-A-PORTER.COM and 20% of the proceeds will be donated to (RED) ™, which finances Global Fund grants in Africa, with a focus on eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV. This is the first time that Green Carpet Collection pieces have been available to buy online, and represents a pioneering step for sustainable style.
Unveiled at an event hosted by Natalie Massenet, Anna Wintour, Livia Firth and the Earl and Countess of Mornington, the launch supports the life-saving work of the Global Fund through a creative partnership with the GCC® and (RED) ™. Each designer has created one GCC cocktail gown and one GCC red carpet gown, which will be exhibited amongst the sprawling history preserved in Aspley House, juxtaposed with breathtaking visuals created by Karl Largerfeld muse Amanda Harlech. This collaboration is the vanguard of matching ethics and aesthetics, as these five leading designers take their first step on to the Green Carpet.
Livia Firth says, “We decided early on that the Green Carpet Challenge would work on two levels: on the world’s red carpets to get our favourite A-listers wearing sustainable style in front of the flash bulbs and then deep in the supply chain with real producers all over the world making systemic change. For the first time this collection puts the two together in a wonderful symbiotic relationship and shows the power of NET-A-PORTER as a fashion industry game changer when it embraces sustainable style and I look forward to working with them forever and ever.”
“British fashion has huge power and resonance world-wide and I am thrilled that (RED) and Livia Firth have seen in our great British designers, the opportunity to amplify their messages and raise funds for the amazing work that they do,” states Natalie Massenet, Founder and Executive Chairman of NET-A-PORTER.COM. “British fashion is at the top of its game right now and it’s a real honour that the Global Fund has chosen to host its event in London during London Fashion Week. We at NET-A-PORTER.COM are delighted to be able to take a small part in making a big difference.”
