The Green Carpet Challenge has joined forces with NET-A-PORTER.COM to launch a world exclusive capsule collection with five leading British designers. Victoria Beckham, Roland Mouret, Christopher Bailey for Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane and Erdem have all embraced sustainable style by designing two pieces each, in accordance with the GCC® ethical benchmarking. All garments have been produced to the highest sustainable standards following the GCC® criteria.
The capsule collection was launched on 17th September in the beautiful surroundings of Apsley House, London. With the support of the British Fashion Council and The Global Fund, guests were treated to a showing of Mary Nighy’s film Handprint, which promotes awareness of the conditions endured by third world garment workers.
Each designer created two gowns each – one cocktail and one red carpet. The extremely talented Amanda Harlech created some breath-taking displays to showcase the red carpet gowns, while the cocktail gowns were worn by guests at the event. Livia Firth wore Erdem, Natalia Vodianova was in the Victoria Beckham cocktail dress, Laura Carmichael wore Christopher Kane, Knitwear Designer Tiphaine de Lussy wore Roland’s jumpsuit and Natalie Massenet from Net-a-Porter wore the Burberry Prorsum cocktail dress.
For the first time, the GCC Capsule Collection is available to buy on NET-A-PORTER.COM, and 20% of proceeds will donated to (RED) ™, which finances Global Fund grants in Africa, with a focus on eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
