Romantic, glamorous and steeped in history, Venice is the perfect place for the launch of the newest addition to the Chopard Green Carpet Collection. We couldn’t have picked a better setting than the newly opened and stunning Aman hotel in Palazzo Papadopoli, situated right next to the Grand Canal in Sao Paolo. It’s one of the oldest parts of the city, and the hotel itself is no different; built in the 16th Century, its interiors are adorned with the grand paintings of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, described as the “greatest decorative painter of 18th-century Europe, as well as its most able craftsman”.
I was joined at the launch by Colin, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard Caroline Scheufele, and beautiful actresses Ksenia Rappoport & Virginie Ledoyen. The dress is second-hand Marni, bought at last year’s Convivio in Milan; founded by Gianni Versace 11 years ago, over 100 fashion houses join together in a half price market, donating all profits to Italian AIDs charity Anlaids. Currently sponsored by Vogue Italia Editor and staunch GCC supporter Franca Sozzani, over 60,000 visitors and buyers attend each year, making it one of the biggest charity events held by the fashion industry. Seamstress extraordinaire Ms Minetti added a bit of GCC magic to the Marni dress and created a beautiful black slip to go underneath.
An event like this always calls for a special pair of shoes, so what could be more appropriate than my wedding shoes? A journalist even asked me if they were from the new Celine collection – obviously I picked a classic pair. It’s timeless pieces like these that make it worth investing love and attention in to your clothes, and if the impressive surroundings are anything to go by, true style can last for centuries. I of course accessorised with some incredibly beautiful Chopard jewellery, covered with sparkling flowers to match my dress. The launch couldn’t have gone better, and I’m so excited about the endless possibilities our partnership with Chopard will bring.
