Milan Fashion Week – The good and the great brought star power to fashion’s drive to sustainability as they joined Carlo Capasa, Chairman Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) and Livia Firth, Founder and Creative Director, Eco-Age for the inaugural Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia.

The world of fashion came together at Teatro alla Scala to celebrate Italian producers that champion community and social justice, traditional craftsmanship and innovation and technological transformation. For the very first time, the unique awards put sustainability – arguably the most important movement for humankind – at the heart of fashion in a ceremony fit for the Oscars, including a show stopping award produced by Chopard in certified Fairmined* gold.

In an emotionally engaging evening that brought together all elements of the Made In Italy supply chain, the seamstresses of Valentino were honoured alongside Tiziano Guardini, an emerging designer whose ultra-chic use on ecological materials had impressed a judging panel of fashion industry grandees.

The awards night represented the culmination of The Green Carpet Fashion Awards programme designed to celebrate the values and commitment of a network of designers, producers and manufacturers that make up the very best of brand Made in Italy.

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia highlights that fashion is an intensely human industry. Telling people’s stories – from the seamstresses who have dedicated their entire professional lives to their craft, through to the visionaries who have protected natural landscapes in order that they can sustain precious natural resources.

Exceptional artisans, mills, producers, emerging designers and brands were honoured at the awards, in recognition of their achievements in areas from environmental and social stewardship, to the preservation of Italian heritage and crafts, and celebration of “Made in Italy”.
