Chopard Unveils the Trophy for The 2018 Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia

Ahead of the second Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Eco-Age and Chopard, have unveiled this year’s trophy and announced the first Award recipient for the 2018 season. Made with ethical gold, the award will be presented to The Green Carpet Fashion Award winners at La Scala theatre on September 23rd during Milan Fashion Week. Vogue International Editor Suzy Menkes was announced as the recipient of The Visionary Award, the first of the 2018 Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia.

“Once again we are delighted to be able to have the opportunity to work with The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia for this year’s ceremony,” said Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director, Chopard. “These awards are closely aligned with Chopard’s values, especially with our work on The Journey to Sustainable Luxury and the celebration of the artisans involved in all levels of our supply chains.”

For this highly distinctive trophy, the Haute Joaillerie ateliers of the Maison designed a woman, whose long braid is produced in Fairmined-certified ethical gold. Draped in a long robe made of aluminium to lend a lighter touch, the silhouette of this noble 21stcentury heroine evokes the models sketched by fashion designers. She appears surrounded by a halo, borne by a thermoformed glass cape featuring engravings evoking a golden apple tree.

The first recipient of the Awards ceremony was also announced with Suzy Menkes as the recipient of The Visionary Award.  The Visionary Award is presented on behalf of The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia to an individual whose professional career has done the most to champion the hands behind fashion, and to tell the stories of extraordinary makers and artisans within a world-class supply chain.

“Suzy is a fashion interpreter of astonishing ability”, said Carlo Capasa and Livia Firth. “Her curiosity, wit and expertise have given the world fashion coverage that decodes entire cultural epochs. Throughout she remains loyal and alert to the real heart of fashion: the makers and producers in the supply chain. She was the first to talk about sustainability in the field of luxury and in this sense she is a real visionary.”

Suzy Menkes will receive her Award at La Scala, Milan on September 23rd, alongside 14awardees on one of the biggest nights in the fashion calendar, The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia.

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia celebrate the commitment of fashion houses to sustainability, as they work to embrace rapid change while preserving the heritage and authenticity of small-scale producers. The second edition of the awards will be held during Milan Fashion Week at La Scala. Guests who attended the 2017 GCFA ceremony included Dame Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell, Andrew Garfield and Gisele Bündchen.

Carlo Capasa, Chairman, CNMI, adds: “The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia shine a spotlight on and celebrate the beating heart of the Italian luxury fashion industry. They are a unique and important proposition, dedicated to the blend of sustainability and the talent of artisan mills and Italian innovation. These are the values of the Awards, of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) and of Chopard. We are delighted to be continuing together the journey of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia.”.

“Chopard encapsulates the GCFA’s dedication to the finest craftmanship and shares a belief in sustainable innovation in order to move forward. Together we believe in investing in the handprint of fashion and luxury goods by celebrating the stories of the people, products and places in these extraordinary supply chains and making them relevant and important to future generations,’” says Livia Firth, Founder and Creative Director, Eco-Age.
