Ethical Christmas Stocking Filler Ideas

This year, when we hang our stockings by the chimney with care on Christmas Eve, we’ll be wishing for them to be filled with conscious treats to bring true guilt-free joy come Christmas morning. If you’re heading out Christmas shopping and are in need of some inspiration, here are some of our favourite ethical stocking fillers. updated: 12.11.19

Conscious Chocolate Bars

Christmas and chocolate go hand in hand. But this year, rather than reaching for the usual tin of plastic-wrapped, sugar-filled sweets, choose these handmade, organic and raw chocolate bars from Concious Chocolate.  The whole of the Conscious Chocolate range is vegan, vegetarian and organically certified, with a delicious variety of flavours including goji and coconut, chilli, and cheeky cherry.

Swedish Stockings Premium Tights, £15.62

Swedish Stockings are on a mission to influence and change the entire hosiery industry, by producing beautiful and long lasting stockings with sustainability at their core. Typical production of pantyhose uses non-renewable fossil fuels and requires a huge amount of energy and water.  Swedish Stockings tights are created from the by-product of other nylon products,  providing significant water and energy savings. We love the Elin Premium tights in 20 denier knitted ECONYL® 100% regenerated yarn.

Soap Daze Recycled Cotton Facecloth, £5.95

These hand knitted face cloths are made of 100% recycled cotton yarn, and are soft and gentle enough for everyday use. All Soap Daze products are vegan and palm oil free, and are handmade with love in Devon.

The Natural Deodorant Co Deodorant Balm, 55g, £11.00

We love these natural deodorant balms from The Natural Deodorant Co here at Eco-Age. 100% natural, free from preservatives, alcohol, artificial fragrance & palm oil, they are all certified cruelty-free and vegan, and full-size pots are plastic-free. And best of all, they actually work.

Seedball Wildflower Seed Bee Mix, £6.00

These little Seedball pots contain a mix of native wildflower seeds that bees will love – so they get a Christmas present too! The seeds come in a ball made from clay, peat-free compost and chilli powder, which you simply scatter on the garden come spring to inspire even the youngest of gardeners.

Bamboo Toothbrush

Take the whole family on a plastic-free journey with a bamboo toothbrush in each stocking.  These toothbrushes from From Earth to Earth are available in both kids and adult sizes, and all have bamboo handles and BPA-free nylon bristles.

The Soap Co Duo Bar Set, £14.00

These beautiful cold processed soaps are handmade using only natural botanicals, nourishing vitamins and pure essentials oils to moisturise rather than strip your skin. The Soap Co is based in East London, with a traditional workshop in the Lake District, and all products are handcrafted in the UK by people who are blind, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged (soap bars are hand stamped with the name of the maker).  Products arrive hand wrapped in compostable film and recyclable paper, are free from parabens and never tested on animals.

Kooshoo Organic Plastic-Free Hair Ties, $15.00

These organic cotton and plastic-free Kooshoo hair ties are ethically woven, hand-dyed using low-impact dye, cut, sewn and shipped from California, USA.

Frank Green Coffee Cup, £24.99

These colourful frank green reusable cups are made of stainless steel and are customisable so you can match the coffee cup to the personality of its recipient. Not only do they help to cut down on plastic pollution, but it only takes 15 uses  of your frank green SmartCup to offset the environmental impact it took to create it, so it’s also possibly one of the coolest gifts you could give coffee lovers this Christmas.

The Beeswax Wrap Co. Kitchen Pack, £20.00

These Beeswax Wrap Co wraps are a people and planet-friendly alternative to cling film and tinfoil, making them a useful but pretty cool (we think) stocking filler. Handmade in the Cotswolds from GOTS certified organic cotton and low impact dyes, organic jojoba oil, pine resin and beeswax. All beeswax is sourced from the UK, most of it from within a 30 mile radius of the workshop.

Jollie’s Socks, £14.00

Who doesn’t want a new pair of socks for Christmas? When you buy a pair of Jollie’ssocks you’ll also be supporting a local homeless shelter, as for every pair of Jollie’s bought, a pair is donated.

Johnstons of Elgin Merino Wool Gloves, £49.00

These chunky knit 100% merino wool gloves are knitted in Scotland and make the perfect luxury stocking filler that he will treasure for many winters to come.
