The Green Carpet Fashion Award Winners 2018

Who won what at this year’s Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia:

 

The fashion world came together in Milan on Sunday night for the second edition of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia –  a star-studded celebration of the sustainability, innovation and the contribution of the Italian fashion industry.

Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore and Cindy Crawford were among the presenters of the 13 awards, which ranged from Supply Chain Innovation Award (awarded to Sourcemap), to the GCFA Leaders Award – presented to educator, writer and advocate Sinéad Burke for her work changing the fashion conversation for good.

Donatella Versace, artistic director of the Versace Group, was presented with The CNMI in Recognition for Sustainability Award for Versace’s roll out of sustainability initiatives; while Vogue International Editor Suzy Menkes received the Visionary Award for championing the extraordinary makers and producers of the luxury supply chain.

Other winners of the night included Elle Macpherson, who was presented with the Wellness Award – a new award for 2018 that recognises that human wellness is a core component of modern sustainability; and model, author and activist Cameron Russell, who received the Changemaker award for using her platform for activism. 

The CNMI Talent Competition winner of The Franca Sozzani GCC Award for best emerging designer was also announced as Gilberto Calzolari.

Suzy Menkes received The Visionary Award

Pierpaolo Piccioli presents Suzy Menkes with The Visionary Award for championing the hands behind fashion and telling the stories of the extraordinary makers and artisans of the luxury supply chain. 

Antonio Giacomo Lampasi, Lionella Maria Morano, Giacomo Puzzello and Crispino Maria from monterosso receive The Handprint Award

Colin Firth presents Antonio Giacomo Lampasi, Lionella Maria Morano, Giacomo Puzzello and Crispino Maria from monterosso with The Handprint Award for reviving and innovating the traditional, yet partially forgotten, technique of dyeing fabric with recycled graphite. The technique, handed down over centuries, had lay dormant until some very special, focused individuals from WRAD breathed life into this compelling and eco-friendly production technique. 

The cobblers of Ferragamo receive The Art of Craftsmanship Award

Julianne Moore presents the cobblers of Ferragamo with The Art of Craftsmanship Award for showcasing the amplification of great innovation while preserving the heritage of production that dates back centuries. 

Frumat Leather receives the Technology and Innovation Award

Hari Nef presents Frumat Leather with the Technology and Innovation Award for their innovative textile technology in which apple waste is used to make a bio-based leather of such quality and appeal that it can displace animal leather – solving both a waste problem and an ecological one. 

Elle Macpherson receives The Wellness Award

Alison Brie and Technogym founder Nerio Alessandri present Elle Macpherson with The Wellness Award – a new award for 2018 that recognises that human wellness is a core component of modern sustainability. 

Sourcemap receives the Supply Chain Innovation Award

Halima Aden presents Sourcemap with the Supply Chain Innovation Award for their unequivocal belief that consumers have the right to know the social and environmental impact of product, and their use of cutting edge blockchain technology to make that vision a reality. 

The Woolmark farmers receive the Eco Stewardship Award

Cate Blanchett presents Australian woolgrowers with the Eco Stewardship Award to highlight the sustainable farm management in producing the most precious natural fibre: Merino wool @thewoolmarkcompany 

Diego Della Valle and Renzo Rosso receive The CNMI in recognition for Community and Social Justice Award

Emily Ratajkowski and Petra Nemcova present Diego Della Valle and Renzo Rosso with The CNMI in recognition for Community and Social Justice for their work investing in and rebuilding communities, including post-earthquake disaster zones, while securing our communal heritage through projects such as the restoration of the Colosseum and the Rialto Bridge in Venice. 

Gilberto Calzolari receives the Franca Sozzani GCC Award for Best Emerging Designer

Jeremy Irvine, Armie Hammer, Desirée Bollier and Sara Maino present Gilberto Calzolari with the Franca Sozzani GCC Award for Best Emerging Designer. 

Bonotto receives the Sustainable Producer Award

Hu Bing and Stefania Rocca present Bonotto with the Sustainable Producer Award for their exemplary production that has simultaneously invested in artisan craftsmanship and industrial production in a symbiotic way.

Sinéad Burke receives The Leaders Award

Marco Bizzarri presents Sinéad Burke with The Leaders Award for leading a huge transformation in the fashion system and changing the fashion conversation for good. 

Donatella Versace receives The CNMI in Recognition for Sustainability Award

Cindy Crawford presents Donatella Versace with The CNMI in Recognition for Sustainability. From the decision to go fur-free to designing and building the greenest retail spaces, to a Versace culture that puts people and their well-being at the centre, Donatella’s Versace is moving fast through an extensive programme of change. 

Cameron Russell receives The Changemaker Award

Angela Missoni presents Cameron Russell with The Changemaker Award for using her social platforms for social good. In recent times, she systematically exposed harassment and mistreatment of models in the fashion industry through her social media campaign #MyJobShouldNotIncludeAbuse, leading to a series of important changes within the industry.
