Eco-Age has been working with Wembley Stadium since 2010. It’s a multi award-winning partnership which has seen this iconic venue grow to the position of a global sustainability leader.
Eco-Age began working with Wembley Stadium to develop its environmental strategy. Together, an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System was implemented and The FA Group became the first sports organisation to achieve Carbon Trust Standard treble certification (for carbon, water and waste).
In 2018, Eco-Age partnered with The FA Group to widen the scope to the environmental, social and economic impacts of major events at Wembley. By summer 2019, The FA Group achieved certification to the international standard ISO 20121 for the event sustainability management system (ESMS), which Eco-Age supported the creation and management of. Implementation of such a system included proactive stakeholder engagement, sustainability training for various employees and the development of new procedures and tools to support the procurement and events teams.
During 2018, Eco-Age also worked with The FA Group to introduce a unique employee engagement programme. FAST, The FA Group’s Sustainability Team, is a group of passionate employees from across the business keen to make a difference at work, from reducing environmental impacts to enhancing workplace and culture and having a positive impact on society. FAST is formed of squads focused on various sustainability impact areas who meet on a regular basis to define targets, update on progress and discuss new ideas. They are governed by Squad Captains who meet on a monthly basis at FAST meetings coordinated by Eco-Age and Sarah Smith, who leads The FA Group’s sustainability strategy. FAST was shortlisted for the Business Green ‘Sustainability Team’ of the Year award in 2019.
